Mayor releases short films on road safety

Mangaluru: Mayor Kavitha released short films on road safety here on Saturday.

The films were produced by Kannadaka Production headed by Mohan Das Kamath, Kuwait in association with Lions Club, Mangaluru and Rotary Club, Mangaluru Central.

Addressing the gathering, Mayor emphasized the importance of road safety and the need to follow certain guidelines.

Sanil said that as road accidents are one of the biggest causes of death in the city, she said most of the accidents are due to the negligence and by not following traffic rules.

Road safety should also be taught to children from a young age, she added.

Mayor appreciated Kannadaka Production for their creation. “They are doing the work what the government agencies are supposed to be doing. City Corporation will give all support to these types of programmes because we need more awareness about road safety,”

Three short films on traffic awareness are being released.

Films were based on three aspects – Drink and drive, Over-speeding and riding without the helmet were featured in the clips.

Videos also contained Mangaluru Police Commissioner T R Suresh, Cine Star Upendra, Senior Journalist Manohar Prasad speaking on road safety in the short films.

The cinematography has been done by Daya Kukkaje and Satish Ira. Post-production has been done by Foxcorn Media headed by Karthik.

Kannadaka Production plans to show the films in public places, schools, and social media with an intention of spreading awareness.

Venkatesh Baliga, president Lions Club, Raymond D’Cunha, President, Rotary, Mangaluru Central and members of Kannadaka Production were present.
