Surathkal: Amid tension, the district administration permitted to hold the funeral procession of Deepak Rao to be taken from his residence at Katipalla to the Hindu crematorium at the Katipalla here today.
Tight security arrangements were made all along this 750-metre route from his home to the crematorium.
Earlier, the body was brought to his home secretively by the police and asked the family not to hold the funeral procession. As the news spread, right-wing activists as well as Deepak’s family members protested and did not let the mortal remains to be brought out of the ambulance.
