Mysuru: Compared to 434 cities last year, this year Mysuru will be competing with 4000 cities across India for the cleanest city title.

Last year 434 cities of the country took part to compete for the cleanest city tag but this year there are 4000 cities competing for the same. The ideal aim is to be on the top but retaining the fifth position will also be an achievement said the District Commissioner of Mysuru, D Randeep.

He also added that the city was conducting Swacch Bharat Abyayan since last month and the local residents and organisations were very supportive. To clean the entire city it is very necessary for all to join hands and not just depend on the corporation to do it alone. D Randeep has also been issuing circulars to all the government departments of the district to conduct cleanliness drives.

A swachata team from Delhi will be visiting Mysuru after January 4 to investigate the upkeep of the city.
