Bengaluru: A 14 year old school girl was brutally killed in an accident on Saturday morning in outskirts of Bengaluru.

The deceased has been identified as Harshitha, a 9th standard student. She was on her way to school on Saturday morning when a speeding SUV ran over her resulting in severe head injuries killing her on spot.

The highway was blocked by the residents of Beerasandra stopping the traffic movement between Devanahalli and Doddaballapura.

The villagers were furious and gathered on the highway. They burnt tires and blocked the road and demanded the authorities to install speed breakers to avoid such accidents in future. The villagers did not allow the police officers to remove the body from the spot as they were protesting against the authorities who haven’t taken any step to install speed breakers in spite of repeatedly sending complaints and applications.

The vehicle was seized by the police but the driver has managed to escape. The police are in search for the driver. Meanwhile the villagers were convinced by the police officers who then cleared the roads.
