Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has passed orders on insurance companies that compensation should not be given to the accident victims who do not wear ISI certified helmets.
The orders have been passed on an appeal by the Oriental Insurance Company challenging an order by a court in Madhugiri leading the company to compensate accident victims. Justice L Narayanaswamy passed the order.
The rule says that motorists should wear helmets as prescribed under 230 rule of the Karnataka Motor Vehicles Rules and the helmet should be certifies under ISI number(IS 4151:1993). The helmet should also include manufacturer’s name, year of manufacture and the size of the helmet.
