Bengaluru-Dharmasthala Airavatha bus accident – eight killed, several injured

Hassan: A horrific accident took place today at Shanthigrama near Hassan. The accident killed eight people on spot and severely injured ten others.
Airavatha, a luxury bus that belongs to Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) was travelling towards Dharmasthala from Bengaluru. As it reached Shanthigrama, near Agricultural College in NH 75 at around 3 am today, the driver lost control and overturned the bus leading to death of eight people on spot and injuring at least ten.
Driver Laxman, Diana a medical student, Gangadar, Shivappa Chalavadi are among the deceased.
The injured were immediately rushed to the government hospital in Hassan.
Karnataka’s Transport minister HM Revanna announced a compensation of Rs.3 lakh each to the deceased. He also announced that the medical expenses of those injured will be taken care by the government.
