Temple cityu geared up for Paryaya 2018

Udupi: Paryaya Darbar 2018 is all set to begin from today. Lakhs of devotees are expected to visit the grand ceremony where Sri Vidyadheeshateertha Swamiji of Palimar Math will ascend the Paryaya Peetha
The Paryaya festival, which the marks the transfer of power of management and worship of Lord Krishna at the 800-year-old Sri Krishna Mutt/Temple from one seer to another seer of the Ashta Mutts or eight mutts of Udupi biennially will be held here.
Union ministers are also expected to witness the ceremonial functions.
The ‘Paryaya Peetharohana’ functions, where the Vishwesha Tirtha swamiji hands over the ‘Akshaya Patre’ and ‘sattuga’ (vessel and ladle dating back to the times of Sri Madhwacharya) and the keys to the sanctum sanctorum to the new seer – Vidyavallabha Tirtha to mark the formal transfer of authority. This will take place at the Sri Krishna Mutt/Temple at 6.35 a.m.
Various Paryaya Darbar function will take place at the Rajangana hall, The Maha anna santharpane will be from noon and rathotsava will be from the evening. Bhajan program will begin from 5.15 am.
Security has beefed up to take care of law and order in the temple town. As a precautionary measure, additionally one superintendent of police (SP), an additional SP, six deputy SPs, 13 police inspectors, 40 sub-inspectors and over a thousand other staff and home guards have been deployed for security duty.
