Fire at Bellandur Lake could be intentional to clear the area

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Lake Conservation and Deveopment Authority and other agencies are suspicious of the fire that rose at Bellandur Lake may have been set by the ones who graze livestock in the grasslands. According to them, the fire could be an accident or with an intension to clear the area for fresh grass to grow.
On the other hand, the experts have stated that the cause of the fire can be the accumulated methane in the sewage-laden sludge of the lake. Samples from nine locations have been taken by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) on Saturday to find out the methane content in the lake.
