15 lakh applications for revision of electoral roll received

Bengaluru: Around 15 lakh applications were received from across Karnataka for the electoral roll revision on Monday.

The last date for the application was extended till 22nd Januray. The applications are aid to be reviewed by February 12 before the draft roll announcement.

The claims will be reviewed by the Electoral Roll Officers and Assistant Electoral Roll Officers since the last date is coming to an end. The officials have said that the applications range from a few additions to deletions, change of address within the constituency or migration to a different constituency, among others. Before the release of electoral roll, all the claims will be reviewed. On the other hand, people can continue to enrol till the date of withdrawal for nomination.

Meanwhile, Chief Electoral Officer Sanjiv Kumar held a videoconference on Monday with district officials to assess the progress across the State.
