21-yr-old man held for spying for Pakistan

Chandigarh: A man has been arrested in Batala for allegedly sharing sensitive information pertaining to the Army and the BSF with Pakistani intelligence agencies, the Punjab police said today.
The military intelligence unit in Jammu and Kashmir had informed the Punjab police that Gianbir Singh (21) was in touch with Pakistani intelligence agencies and was sharing with them sensitive information about the Army and the BSF. After receiving the information, Gianbir, a resident of Shikhar Massian village, was arrested, Batala SSP Opinderjit Singh Ghuman said.
“We have found several Pakistani numbers on his mobile phone and are trying to retrieve data from the handset,” the SSP said, adding the accused was in touch with intelligence agencies of Pakistan through WhatsApp.
A case under relevant sections of the Official Secret Act has been registered against accused, who was working with a mining contractor. Further investigation is underway, the police said.
