Banker cheated by woman he met on matrimonial website

Bengaluru: A bank employee was cheated with Rs. 4 lakh by a woman who he met on a matrimonial website. The incident took place in Girinagara on Saturday.
Dhananjay Baht Chitte, aged 35 is a resident of Vinoba Colony. He had met a lady who identified herself as Shilpa on a matrimonial website. They spoke over the phone and decided to get married.
Few days later Shilpa asked Dhanajay to help her financially saying that her brother was admitted in the hospital for emergency treatment. She said that she immediately needed Rs.4 lakh for the surgery.
Dhanajay immediately transferred the money to Shilpa. Gradually, Shilpa stopped calling Dhananjay. When he tried calling her; her cell phone was switched off. He then realized that he was cheated and decided to approach the police.
The police found out that Shilpa had deleted her matrimonial profile. They are now trying to trace her mobile phone and bank account details.
