Mini-truck kills elderly couple and injured three

Bengaluru: An elderly couple were killed on spot when a speeding mini-truck rammed their car on Tumakuru Road near Nelamangala toll gate on Friday afternoon. Three others have sustained injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Ramachandra, aged 70, and his wife Asha R, aged 60, residents of Malleswaram. According to the police, the truck driver seems to have lost control of the vehicle, jumped the median and rammed the car which was coming in the opposite direction. The accident killed the elderly couple and injured the car driver and two others in the vehicle. The conditions of the injured are stable.

Police had to call for a crane to lift the mangled vehicles and clear the traffic. The truck driver fled from the spot, leaving behind his vehicle. Case has been registered by the police and the hunt for the truck driver is in progress.
