Banda: Four people, including a relative of a BJP MLA, have been arrested for allegedly extorting money from truckers in the Naraini police station area here.

“Four people were arrested near the Kartal road barrier for extorting money from sand truckers yesterday,” Superintendent of Police Shalini said today.

One of them, Srivishal, is believed to be a cousin of Naraini MLA Rajkaran Kabir, the SP said.

When contacted, the MLA alleged that the SP had been targeting people close to him and had recently got a fake case filed against his representative Nand Kishore Brahmachari.

“Now, she has arrested my cousin,” he said.

“I will meet Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and him for the truth,” Kabir said.

The SP said rules were followed and a few BJP leaders who had come to meet her in this regard were apprised of the situation.
