Bengaluru: A constable on duty was assaulted by a lorry driver for enquiring him over honking unnecessarily on Wednesday.
The KR Puram police have arrested three people including the driver Sreenivas, his father Shivu and an associate Santhosh for attacking constable Sampath who was attached to KR Puram traffic police station.
Sreenivas at around 9 am was driving a sand lorry. The lorry came from the Basavanapura Road and stopped at the Bhattarahalli Junction as the signal turned red. But he started honking continuously, the police said.
Constable Sampath came to the lorry and questioned Sreenivas about this nuisance. Raged by this Sreenivas pushed away Sampath and assaulted him. He then called his father and Santhosh, who rushed to the spot and started recording the constable’s movements on the phone, the police said.
Sampath immediately called other officers for additional backup and a team of policemen reached the spot. They arrested Sreenivas, his father and Santhosh, the police said.
