Belagavi: A Kannadiga council member belonging to the SC/ST community Basavaraja Chikkaladinni, has been chosen as the mayor of the Belagavi Mahanagara Palike.
This is the first time where a SC/ST member has been chosen for the Mayor post in Belagavi. This was possible because the Mayor’s post is reserved for SC/ST this election.
Chikkaldinni was chosen unanimously. He filed his nominations himself without taking help from others.
