Political ‘goondagiri’: Congress leader thrashes doctor on duty in Ballari

Ballari: A local Congress leader has been booked for allegedly beating up a doctor on duty at the district hospital.
The suspect has been identified as Farhan Ahmed, the president of Minorities Wing of Ballari City unit of the Congress party. His wife Gayatri is a police inspector attached to Ballari women police station.
The victim Dr. D Vinod of Radiology Department at Ballari district hospital has complained to the Gandhinagara police that Ahmed abused and thrashed him on February 28 in his chamber while he was attending his patients. He also said that Ahmed had threatened to kill him.
Ahmed’s pregnant wife had come to the hospital for ultrasound scanning at 11:30 am but she had to immediately go back to duty for investigating a case. Dr Vinod requested her to come in the afternoon due to prior appointments. But Gayatri was demanding for immediate scanning but Dr. Vinod asked her to wait. Dr.Vinod said that Gayatri was arguing with him in a high pitch and he asked her not to do the same. Gayatri left the hospital and came back with her husband in some time. Ahmed abused and thrashed Vinod. He even threatened him.
Dr. Vinod lodged a complaint in the noon and had not mentioned the name of the inspector and her husband, said the police. He mentioned their names in the second statement given to the police.
