Bengaluru: A 28-year-old techie was killed after he slipped and fell from the ninth floor of an apartment building in Bellandur.

The deceased has been identified as Gautham Kumar, a software engineer. Gautham hailed from Patna and was employed at an IT Firm in Kadubeesanahalli. He was residing in an apartment at BSR Apartments in Bellandur.

The incident took place on Thursday night when Gautham and his friends were partying at their newly bought flat at the ninth floor of the Shobha Daisy apartment. Gautham’s friends Kumar Gaurav, Abhishek Jha, Daksh, Aditya, and Anayath were present during the mishap.

At around 11 pm, Gautham received a phone call from his family and he went outside to talk over the phone. Gautham, who was in a drunken state, lost balance and slipped and fell to death from the ninth floor.

According to the police, the security guard of the building heard a loud noise and found Gautham lying in a pool of blood on the ground. He immediately called the police. Gautham’s friends were busy partying and grew suspicious when Gautham did not return even after 30 minutes. They tried to call his mobile and later came out searching for him. They noticed a crowd gathered on the ground floor around Gautham who was lying dead.

The Bellandur police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to the St John’s Hospital after making inquiries with his friends. Investigations are still in progress to find out whether it was an accident, suicide or murder.
