Kasaragod: Police have apprehended a woman who had left her home five days back, along with a group of drug traffickers. Interrogation of the woman has revealed shocking information about drug trafficking and abuse in the district.
The woman is a resident of Kasaragod city limits and was married six months ago to an NRI who works in the Middle East. Husband had returned back to the Middle East after his vacation. Five days back the woman left her husband’s house informing her in-laws that she will be going back to her parent’s home, only to end up missing since then.
The police started investigating this disappearance of the woman and found her in the company of two engineering students from an engineering college in Mangaluru. The students too were drug addicts. She along with the two students were taken to the police station and her interrogation revealed shocking information.
The woman was introduced to drugs in 2014 when she was pursuing ‘plus two’ at a school in Kasaragod. The drug use later turned into an addiction. The same way six other girls were addicted to drugs in that school. Many a times, without informing her parents, she has tagged along with her boy classmates to Mangaluru beach and other places for drug abuse. Her classmates are now engineering students in Mangaluru. After her husband left for the Middle East, giving the excuse of visiting her parent’s home, the woman came to Mangaluru with two engineering students.
In the same case, according to her complaint, a case has been registered against three under the sections of rape, blockade, fraud and threat. Hunt is on for another accused.
