Puttannaiah’s son to contest in election from Swaraj India Party

Mandya: The late farmer leader MLA K S Puttannaiah’s son Darshan Puttannaiah will compete in the upcoming assembly elections from the Melkote constituency. Darshan is said to contest from the Swaraj India Party from Melkote, which was represented by his father in the Assembly.
Raitha Sangha district president Shambunahalli Suresh said the general population of the supporters are of the view that Darshan was the rightful candidate to challenge the polls.
The sangha has finalized its decision on the candiadte. “The late MLA’s significant other Sunitha Puttannaiah and other’s in his family too have given their approval. Additionally, youths ought to be given a chance to lead the farmer’s movement. The late Puttannaiah too had a similar sentiment,” Suresh said.
Raitha Sangha and Swaraj India Party leaders will hold a meeting close to Puttannaiah’s grave and formally declare Darshan’s candidature on Thursday.
