Gadag: Orthopaedician Dr Babu B Hundekar (50), who went missing from the past two days, has been found dead in the outskirts of the town. The police suspect that Babu has been murdered by his relative over financial issues.
According to the police sources that Babu was a member of the board of directors of Sushruta Multi-specialty Hospital & Research Centre. Thye believe that he has been murdered by his brother in law Naveen Mullikgoudar who is a real estate businessman along with three of his friends. The police suspect that they killed Babu at his house on March 12 and disposed his body in an isolated place on the outskirts of Ingalagi village on Gadag Road.
Hubballi-Dharwad police commissioner M N Nagaraj said that the half burnt body which was found on March 14 is said to be Babu’s. The body is charred beyond recognition and the samples from the body are sent for a DNA test for identification.
The police officials stated that Babu had lent a loan of Rs. 60 lakh to Naveen a few years ago and they both often quarrelled over the repayment of the money. This might have angered Naveen and made him take this extreme step of killing Babu.
On March 12, Babu’s father Basappa Hundekar had filed a kidnap complaint with Vidyanagar police and named Naveen as the suspect.
