Bengaluru: A 26-year-old lady from Northeast India has blamed an agent for sexually attacking her for one-and-a-half years in the wake of hiring her as a household help.
The lady, from Nagaland, came to Bengaluru in 2015 and found an occupation at a beauty parlor in Viveknagar. The parlour is owned by Rongsenkala, the wife of the suspect, Wahengbam Lalit Singh.
Singh forced her to leave the job at the beauty parlor and hired her as a household help. Later, he began to misbehave with her and sexually assault her for more than a year. She told about it to his wife Rongsenkala but she ignored her complaints.
The victim contacted one of her relative who figured out how to get her out of Singh’s home. She later contacted her hometown and filed a complaint at the Women’s commission. The commission passed on the issue to the Bengaluru police commissioner’s office. The case was consequently given to the jurisdictional Viveknagar police.
Police are yet to capture Singh and his wife as they were not found in the house where they were living. A week ago, they called the victim to the city for recording her announcement. She expressed in her grievance that she had not been paid for six months.
