Traffic cop killed by truck

Bengaluru: A 30-year-old traffic police constable was crushed to death by a speeding truck as he was crossing the NICE Road underpass near the Deve Gowda junction.
The deceased has been identified as Constable Ravishankar S A, a resident of Kommaghatta, who was joined to the Byatarayanapura traffic police station.
The mishap occurred on Saturday evening as Ravishankar and home guard Venkoba Rao observed activity at the Deve Gowda intersection from the morning. A bystander saw the truck, heading for Somanahalli, knocked the constable down and fled the spot. Alarmed Rao hurried Ravishankar to hospital. The hospital announced that constable was brought dead.
Eye witnesses of the mishap revealed that the speeding truck crushing Ravishankar, however the police are yet to recognize the vehicle.They are checking CCTV footages from the nearby areas as no camera had been installed at the accident spot.
As indicated by Rao, around 1 pm, Ravishankar was crossing the road when the speeding truck thumped him down.
Ravishankar’s relative Chikkanna said the family was searching for a bride for him. He had joined the force in 2012 and was getting ready for the UPSC examination throughout his six-year service.
The Byatarayanapura traffic police have recorded a case and have framed three teams to find the truck driver.
