Man attempts to end life by plunging off electric pole

Mysuru: Mysuru city witnessed a high drama on Wednesday evening when a man attempted to end his life by plunging off an electric pole at K R Circle.

The individual who attempted the act has been identified as Kantaraj and he is said to be mentally ill. The incident took place when Kantaraj climbed up an electric pole and tried to jump off it. The passersby on the road and nearby places immediately informed Devaraja police.

The police immediately arrived on the spot and convinced Kantaraj not to jump off the pole.

But Kantaraj ignored the police and climbed to the top of the pole and plunged from there.  A policeman, who had climbed up a ladder to save him, grasped him in mid-air and brought him down securely.

Traffic around the place was effected for an hour because of the incident.
