Bengaluru: A 37-year-old woman bludgeoned her alcoholic husband to death with a machete on January 18. She tried to cover up the crime with the help of her son and father.
The deceased has been identified as Ganesh (47). He was married to Uma and had a 17 year old son.
On January 19, Ganesh was found dead in his Moodalapalya house and his wife Uma lodged a complaint at the Vijayanagara police station saying that her husband was killed when she and her son were out of town.
The police have now arrested Uma, her son and her 65 year old father Raju for the crime. During the interrogation they said Ganesh (47) was a real-estate dealer and was killed for his errant ways due to his addiction to alcohol.
The police discovered that Uma and Ganesh had quarelled on January 18 when he found out that Rs 15000 was missing from his wallet. In the meantime, their son interrupted the fight which angered Ganesh. He assaulted Raju. Tormented by her better half’s conduct, Uma clubbed him with amachete when Ganesh was sleeping.
Early on January 19, she revealed to her son about killing his father and they left for Shivamogga, wrapping the murder weapon with the blood-stained bed sheet. On the way she threw the machete into the bush.
After reaching her parent’s place, she informed her father about killing Ganesh. Raju burnt the bloodstained bedsheet and pacified Uma.
The police couldn’t get any data while testing Uma and her son, yet developed suspicious when their landlord said that Uma and Ganesh often fought.
