KIA honoured as best regional airport in India, Central Asia

Bengaluru: The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has won the current year’s SKYTRAX Award for Best Regional Airport in India and Central Asia. The honor was displayed at the World Airport Awards held at the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Stockholm, Sweden, on March 21. 

This is for the second back to back year that the KIA has won the honor. The Bengaluru airport had won the honor thrice, in 2011, 2015 and 2017.

Hari Marar, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) said “To be named the Best Regional Airport in India and Central Asia is an amazing accomplishment for the KIA,” The SKYTRAX World Airport Awards is seemingly the biggest traveler satisfaction evaluation. It is considered among the most esteemed surveys measuring airport administration excellence and quality. 

The champs of the 2018 honors were pronounced in view of 13.73 million study surveys from more than 500 airplane terminals around the world. The study was conducted between August 2017 and February 2018. 

A key mandate of the review is for clients to make their own, personal decisions as to which airport they consider to be the best.

‘Regional Airports’ are the airports which operate short international flights and domestic flights, as opposed to having an vast inter continent network flights. 

In the past SKYTRAX Awards, the KIA was decreed the best airport in India in 2011 and the second best airport in India in 2012.
