Mallikarjun criticizes MB Patil for dividing Veerashaiva-Lingayat community

Bagalkote: Horticulture Minister S Mallikarjun on Saturday respected the the resolution by Akhila Bharat Veerashaiva Mahasabha dismissing the Cabinet choice on Lingayat issue, and rather looking for religious minority status to Veerashaiva-Lingayat community. 

He was addressing the media persons on the sidelines of the meeting of University of Horticultural Sciences here. Hitting back at Water Resources Minister M B Patil’s statement that Veerashaiva and Lingayats are two separate elements, Mallikarjun stated, “Not all individuals are same in a house. A couple of attempt to keep the family joined together while a couple of others endeavor to wreck it, the ministere said making an aberrant reference to Patil. 

Mallikarjun said “Before, a proposition was sent to the Center looking for separate religion tag for Veerashaiva-Lingayat people group. The Union government did not dismiss our demand. In this way, we will look for the Center again to reconsider our plea,” 

To a particular inquiry, he stated, “How about we not blend the Veerashaiava-Linagayat issue with governmental issues.”
