Bengaluru: Engineering student found dead on train tracks

Bengaluru: A 20-year-old engineering student was discovered dead on railway tracks near Kengeri on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Shanmugam Manjunath. He was a third-year mechanical engineering student of the SJB Institute of Technology on Uttarahalli Main Road in Kengeri. He hailed from Proddatur in Kadappa and was staying in the college hostel.
The city railway police were informed by a bystander at around 10.50 pm on Friday night about a young man’s body lying near the railway tracks near Kengeri. The police raced to the spot and identified the body to be of Manjunath’s. The police likewise learnt from the expired’s friends that he had gone to the college that day and had ventured out of the hostel at night.
The railway police presume that the student may have committed suicide by jumping in front of the train. The police did not discover a suicide note on him or in his hostel room.
Manjunath’s friends said that he suffered from health problems and furthermore had financial issues in his family.
Manjunath’s body was shifted to Victoria Hospital where the postmortem was conducted on Saturday and his body was handed over to his family. I
However, the city railway police have registered a case of death under suspicious circumstances and are investigating further.
