Cabinet decides to solve drinking water shortage problems

Bengaluru: The State Cabinet meeting which was held on Tuesday considered the drinking water shortage in the State and chose to handle water lack with quick measures.
According to the sources, seven to eight Ministers raised the issue looked by some taluks and requested quick release of funds to overcome the issue. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah advised the Ministers to use funds accessible with the Deputy Commissioners to handle drinking water issues in their respective regions.
Since moderating drinking water deficiency would not go under the poll code, it was chosen to issue directions to the Deputy Commissioners to use funds for digging bore wells, supply of water through tankers, and repairing hand pumps to guarantee drinking water to the general population.
Notwithstanding, the Cabinet, which met for almost a hour and a half examined different issues identified with elections, its poll stratergy, obligations of Ministers and the technique for the party’s campaign, sources said.
In perspective of the decisions, the administration has kept in touch with the Center looking for extension of Chief Secretary Ratna Prabha’s tenure for four months.
Prabha’s term would end on March 31. In any case, the Center has not reacted to the governement, sources said.
