Kasargod: In a shocking incident, a youth slit his throat in public in broad daylight at Cherkala Panalam here on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Harish Naik (30) from Chikkamagaluru.
It has been reported that, Harish rushed to a sugarcane vendor and picked up a knife and slit his throat.
The reason for taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
Vidyanagar police rushed to the spot and the body was shifted to the general hospital in Kasargod.
