Mumbai: Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMIDC) today said it has launched its logistics data bank (LDB) container tracking service at the Bharat Mumbai Container Terminals (BMCT) at the JNPT.

DMICDC Logistics Data Services (DLDS) has started the terminal, built by Singapore-based PSA International at the JNPT, the company said in a statement issued here.

DLDS is a joint venture between the Indian government, represented by the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT), and Japan’s NEC Corporation.

“With this launch, the LDB service is now available across 10 port terminals in the western industrial corridor, covering the five port terminals of JNPT and five port terminals in Mundra and Hazira under Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) in Gujarat,” it said.

The statement further stated that BMCT expects the LDB service to bring in greater efficiencies in logistics.

“BMCT is striving to initiate new ideas and projects that will enhance the overall customer experience. With LDB operational at the terminal, it will provide greater visibility and transparency to the trade,” it said.

LDB is currently providing container visibility for nearly 70 per cent of the country’s total container volume through a single tracking system, and has so far covered more than 7 million containers across the western industrial corridor of India.
