200 lorry loads of sand seized in Vijayapura

Vijayapura: Police have seized 200 lorry loads of sand which was being transported illegally on the banks of River Bheema.
The police have seized 100 lorry heaps of sand each, gathered at Kerur in Chadachana taluk and near Umaraja.
District Superintendent of Police Nikam Prakash Amrit said that four lorries, one tipper vehicle and five boats were used to extract sand from the river bed. All the above vehicles were also seized.
He said attempts were on to trace those behind the illegal extraction of sand. The boats and one of the lorries are from Maharashtra, Amrit included.
