Man shot dead near house in UP

Muzaffarnagar: A 48-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified assailants near his house in Shamli district here, police said today.

Rakesh, who works in a hospital in Delhi, was shot last night when he was returning home from work, Circle Officer Ashok Kumar said.

The incident took place close to Rakesh’s house, he said. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival, Kumar said.

Police suspect that the incident was a fallout of an old enmity, the officer said, addingan investigation is underway in the matter.
