Unaccounted cash seized from check posts

Udupi: Unaccounted cash of Rs 1.63 lakh was seized by the election officials in two separate cases at Hosangadi and Anjaru Check posts on Wednesday.

It has been reported that, Rs 1,05,790 cash was being transported in a Pick-up van belonging to Vishwanath Naik. However, sources claim that Vishwanath Naik was carrying fishing related collection to be paid to his owner.

In another incident, Rs 58,000 was seized at the Anjaru Check Post from a car belonging to Gajendra Shetty from Murdeshwar.

The seized amount has been handed over to the Zilla Panchayat CEO.

Additional DC Anuradha claimed that Vishwanath Naik and Gajendra Shetty can appear with documents related to the cash and get back their cash.
