Craze for speed kills a student during ‘Saddle Sore’ bike challenge

Chitradurga: A 21-year-old student from Kerala was killed in an accident close here while taking part in a bike ride challenge named ‘Saddle Sore’. 

Midhun, a last year student of a school at Pambady in Kerala, was riding his bicycle when he met with the accident on the Bengaluru-Pune National Highway at 4 am on Wednesday. He was killed on the spot after his bike rammed into a lorry when the driver of the lorry applied sudden break.

Midhun’s relatives said that he was crazy about speed bike riding and was taking an interest in the ‘Saddle Sore’ event that expected riders to cover around 1,500 kilometers in 22 hours. 

The event is directed by a US based association. Midhun had set out on this adventure on Tuesday evening telling his mom that he was going to Coimbatore for the rally.
