Man booked for trying to rape minor

Sambhal (UP): An FIR was today registered against an unidentified person for allegedly trying to rape a 11-year-old Dalit girl in Baniyather area, police said.
The incident took place this morning when the man caught the girl when she was returning home after attending a marriage function in the village, Circle Officer Onkar Singh said.
When the girl resisted, he tried to strangulate her, he said. The girl managed to flee and reached her home after which an FIR was registered against the man.
The girl has been admitted to a hospital. Police is probing the matter and trying to ascertain the identity of the accused.
