Robbers follow woman home to rob her jewellery

Bengaluru: A 39-year-old housewife from HRBR Layout was robbed of her gold ornaments in front of her residence. R Lakshmi Prasannareddy, had headed to the Andhra Bank in Banaswadi on Wednesday evening, to get a portion of her ornaments from her locker. When she exited with her sack of ornaments and sat down in the driving seat, an outsider came and signaled at the road. “I thought my saree or something has stuck while shutting the entryway, so I opened the entryway yet the saree was not stuck, I got down check whether something had happened to the car. Instead, I found a ten-rupee note near my car. The first thing that strike to mind was that it might be a trap. Anyway, the cash wasn’t mine. So I walked away,” she said. 

An auto rickshaw had been stopped before Lakshmi’s car. When she began leaving, the driver came running to pick up the notes, followed by an elderly man who claimed the money was his. Lakshmi saw the auto driver hand the notes over to the elderly man. “I got back the driving seat and experienced difficulty getting the car to move. I think the robbers had put something close to the tire to prevent me from heading out effortlessly. At long last, I cleared out the place and drove back home,” she said. 

It was around 3.15pm when Lakshmi achieved home to discover her children playing outside in the street. “I remained there talking with them and I had my bag with me. But as soon as I started walking towards the entrance, someone pushed from behind, snatched my bag. I fell on the road from the impact of the push,” she recalled.

Lakshmi informed her husband who called the Banaswadi police. “The CCTV camera set up in my neighbor’s home caught the episode. The police recouped it. It was then that I learnt that three men had followed me in a bike. One robbed my sack and they got away together,” said Lakshmi. 

While Lakshmi wouldn’t disclose the aggregate worth of the jewellery robbed, she answered to the police that she had lost 14 gold bangles, several bangles with precious stones, more than one antique neck pieces, as well as pearl and polki pieces.

Banaswadi police have enrolled a case of robbery and extorting. “We have gathered the CCTV footage and have been analyzing it. We have officially formed a group to nab the robbers,” said the police..
