CM Siddaramaiah welcomes PM to state with series of tweets on corruption

Bengaluru: CM Siddaramaiah offered a few conversation starters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his double standard on tackling corruption on the eve of Prime Minister’s visit to Karnataka for campaigning.

In a series of tweets with hash label #AnswerMaadiModi, Siddaramaiah looked for Modi’s answer on his choice to field corrupted B S Yeddyurappa as BJP’s chief minister candidate. 

Siddaramaiah invited Modi to Karnataka and tweeted, “Dear @narendramodi, Heard you are coming to Namma Karnataka tomorrow. We welcome you to our state. While you are here,we Kannadigas would like you to address the following concerns. Please #AnswerMaadiModi.”

In another tweet, CM Siddu attacked Modi for offering tickets to corrupted Reddy brothers. “Would G Janardhan Reddy be joining your rallies here? You have given his family & friends 8 tickets, hoping it will help BJP in 10-15 seats. And then, you lecture us on corruption. Please end this hypocrisy. Kannadigas aren’t wearing Kamala (lotus, the BJP’s election symbol) on their ears,” Mr Siddaramaiah wrote. “You first make scam tainted @BSYBJP your party’s CM face in Karnataka. Then media reports that you don’t want to be seen sharing the stage with him at rallies!”

His next tweet read, “Karnataka needs to know whether Yeddyurappa is your CM candidate?” 

Siddaramaiah likewise lashed out at Modi for protecting rapists with reference to occurrences of rape in Uttar Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir in which a BJP MLA is a prime accused. He additionally addressed Modi for offering tickets to MLAs who watched porn in the Assembly. He tweeted, “Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ‘protected’ a BJP MLA accused for rape, while party MLAs shielded the rapists of a child in Jammu and Kashmir. And after that your party makes grandiose advertisements to politicize rape in Karnataka?!” 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will start campaigning on Tuesday May 1 with three rallies on substitute days in various parts of the state in the keep running up to Assembly elections on May 12. He is relied upon to hold more than 16 rallies.
