Water from train toilet used in tea cans, Vendor fined

Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) said on Wednesday that vending contractor has been fined of Rs. 1 lakh by the Railways after a video showing the workers blending water from a train toilet in tea and coffee went viral on social media. 

In the video, a seller was seen leaving a train toilet with tea and coffee cans, indicating that water was being mixed in the cans inside the toilet. 

The episode had happened in December a year ago, on board the Hyderabad Charminar Express at Secunderabad railway station, a Railways correspondence said. 

An inquiry was directed and based on it stringent move has been made against the contractor, for the segment amongst Secunderabad and Kazipet, P Sivaprasad, with whom the seller in the video was utilized. 

A senior railroads official, M Umashankar Kumar said “A punishment of Rs. 1 lakh has been levied on the licensee,” Two other people seen in the video were unapproved vendors, Mr Kumar included. 

“A strict vigil was ceaselessly being kept at different levels to guarantee that no such incidents will take place in the SCR Zone, the authority said.
