Gurgaon: A 19-year-old woman was allegedly raped by an auto rickshaw driver and four others in Sohna here, the police said today.
The incident took place on Tuesday evening when the woman, a native of Uttar Prdesh, was returning from Sohna, they said.
“The victim in her complaint to the police said she was waiting for a bus for Aligarh at Sohna tempo stand at 8 pm. Seeing her alone, the accused auto driver approached her, telling her she was like his sister and offered to drop her in Gurgaon,” Gurgaon Police PRO Ravinder Kumar said.
“He told her that the bus plying for Aligarh had left and she could pick a bus to Aligarh from Gurgaon. He promised to drop her following which she boarded the auto,” he said.
Kumar said after travelling for some distance, the driver stopped the auto at an isolated place where four of his friends were already present.
“They offered her a drink laced with sedatives. The accused then took turns to rape her,” he said, adding that later they five fled the spot.
The victim, however, managed to note down the registration number of the auto, the PRO said.
“A case has been registered in Bhondsi police station and investigation is underway to identify the accused persons,” he said, adding that the police have questioned many suspected auto drivers but no arrests have been made so far.
