Kochi: A police officer has been booked by the Ernakulam central police for allegedly sexually abusing a minor girl here, an official said today. The officer was charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) on the basis of a complaint by the girls parents, the police said.
The girl alleged that the officer, an assistant sub inspector from neighbouring Kottayam district, grabbed her wrist without her permission when she was in an elevator of a building here on Monday. The police said that the accused officer is a relative of the girl.
A preliminary investigation is launched in the incident, they said, adding no arrest has been made so far.
