Girl beaten to death to “cure” her of TV addiction

Bengaluru: The police have arrested a lady complainant and her daughter after investigation uncovered that the mother-girl team had beaten a girl to death on May 2 in Bengaluru.
Gayatri, the mother of the expired was arrested before, when she admitted to killing her daughter Sharanya.
Sharanya used to waste her time either sitting in front of the TV or on the mobile phone and this stressed her mother, who looked for assistance from a relative Pramila (40) to cure her girl of the habit.
According to reports, Pramila, who claimed to have the power of performing black magic to cure individuals, said that Sharanya was controlled by evil powers and performing certain rituals would push them away.
As said, Gayatri took Sharanya to Pramila’s home where she alongside her daughter, Ramya beat the girl with iron rods to drive away the evil spirits, brutally injuring the girl all the while and eventually killing her. Just to escape from the cops,Pramila convinced Gayatri that God was speaking through her and wanted her (Gayatri) to claim up for the death of the girl.
A clueless Gayatri did as said and in her confession to the police, said that she had beaten up her daughter out of anger on discovering her watching TV when she was back from work.
The cops who were unconvinced with the story kept up the investigation, after almost 48 hours of scrutinizing (that additionally included the scrutinizing Gayatri’s paramour), reality behind the girl’s death was uncovered.
