Belagavi: In a campaign in Gokak in Belagavi on Monday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked Congress President Rahul Gandhi “to go to his grandmother’s town in Italy” and return after the elections are done. He opined that Mr. Gandhi has a tendency of running off to Italy when the country is in danger, so when he comes to seek votes, he should be asked to go home.

He was campaigning for the party candidate from the region Ashok Pujari, who is pitted against the District in-charge Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi, who belongs to the Congress. He said that Karnataka was an ATM for the Congress because the Congress leaders of Karnataka send money to the party leaders. He accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of only minting money and not implementing welfare schemes for the people.

Mr. Adityanath pointed out to the schemes carried out by his government in Uttar Pradesh. He said that farm loans of close to one lakh rupees had been waived and compensation for families, which had been affected by the recent storm, had been duly delivered. Schemes for the welfare of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes were also being implemented.

He accused the Congress government and the CM as being anti-farmer since the CM had not visited the house of a single farmer, out of the 3500 farmers who committed suicide. He said that the Congress was dividing the society while BJP was trying to unite it and added that only a government which did not employ discriminatory and divisive policies could establish the ideal Rama Rajya.
