Belagavi: Plenty of voters clicked pictures of their inked fingers on the Assembly Election Day on Saturday, May 13. But one voter went one step ahead. He clicked a photo of him casting his vote with his mobile phone. He uploaded it on the IM app, WhatsApp which instantly went viral.

It is a known fact that using mobile phones inside the polling booth is banned.

A close look at the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in the picture revealed that it was taken in one of the polling stations in Athani in Belagavi district. The current sitting MLA Laxman Savadi there is seeking re-election.

Girish Kedarappa Butali from JD(S) and Mahesh Iranagouda Kumathalli are other the other two contestants in the fray.
