New Delhi: The illegal money seized during the party promotion work in Karnataka is 9-10 times more in comparison to the money seized during the 2013 elections. Election commission themselves have given this information. But if you hear to the expense done by the various parties and their candidates is shocking. The reason being their expenses is somewhere near 9,500 crore rupees to 10,500 crore rupees.
Delhi’s Centre for Media Studies (CMAS) released this shocking information on Monday. In comparison to the expense of the election that took place in Karnataka five years back, this is the most expensive election yet, informed CMAS. This expense amount does not include the promotion expenses of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The study observes that if this carries on, the 2019 Lok Sabha election will definitely witness parties spending 50,000 crore rupees to 60,000 crore rupees on election promotion. The 2014 election witnessed an approximate expenditure of 30,000 crore rupees, said N. Bhaskar Rao of CMSN.
This time’s election depicts 75% increases in candidate expenditure of the total expense incurred in the election. Therefore, on a personal level, during the Lok Sabha election, there will be an increase of 55-60% in expenditure by a candidate.
