Parents allege sodomy, murder after minor found dead in Vorkady,Kasaragod

Kasaragod: A 9-year-old boy was found dead under mysterious circumstance in a shed used for storing firewood near Bakery Junction at Sunkadakatte, Vorkady here on Sunday, May 20th.
The deceased boy has been identified as Sawanth Kumar, a resident of Sunkadakatte, Vorkady, and a class 4 student of St Joseph School, Sunkadakatte.
The boy reportedly went missing in the afternoon on Sunday. It is said that he had been to a shop. His body was found in a shed used for storing firewood near Bakery Junction in the evening.
After preliminary investigation, Manjeshwar police concluded that the boy was playing with firewood which hit his private parts leading to his death. But the parent’s of the deceased boy alleged that he was sodomized before being murdered. It is understood that the injury marks at the neck indicate murder. The body also has other injury marks.
The body was shifted to Pariyaram Medical College, Kannur for further investigation into the cause of death, after protests by the relatives of the deceased.
Police informed that the post-mortem report would confirm whether there was a sexual assault.
