CM’s swearing-in: Section 144 imposed in DK

Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner S Sasikanth Senthil has ordered Section 144 to be imposed in Bantwal, Puttur, Belthangady and Sullia taluks of Dakshina Kannada in the backdrop of swearing-in ceremony of the new government of Karnataka on Wednesday, May 23rd.

The Deputy Commissioner justified the move for maintaining peace and tranquility in the sensitive regions of the district and cited the recent incidents of politically charged clashes in Vitla between Congress and BJP activists as one of the reasons fo the imposition of Section 144. The restricions will be in operation from 6 AM tomorrow (May 23) until 6 AM on May 25.
