Kuvempu University website hacked by Pak organisation

Shivamogga: A pro-Pakistan cyber team called The Hunter Bajwa, has reportedly hacked the website of the State-run Kuvempu University at Shankaraghatta in Shivamogga. At around 10 am on Monday, the organisation announced on its Facebook page that it had hacked the university website. A few minutes later, the university authorities also got to know about it.

The hackers hacked the university home page and posted a pro-Pakistan slogan on the website and another warning message about cyber security. Vice-Chancellor Jogan Shankar confirmed the incident and said that the IT team of the university settled the issue within 15 minutes. He said that they had only hacked the home page, because of which they took immediately employ corrective measures.

The process was restored in under 15 minutes and the home page was restored. Shankar confirmed that no data was stolen and that the website was back to its normal functioning. The university has lodged a police complaint and informed the cyber police wing of the district police about the event.

The IP address and other information about the hackers could not be accessed since they were operating from an unknown place. Not only Kuvempu University, but the organisation has hacked more than 980 websites, most of which are Indian. A techie from Shivamogga said that these hackers were well known to cyber security experts and added that they could not steal any data from any of the websites they have hacked.
