Police open fire at burglars

Bantwal: The police personnel from town and rural police stations opened fire at a gang of burglars here on Thursday night.

It has been reported that, Beltangady police station received a call from Kareem, resident of Gerukatte, Beltangady, informing them that four to five persons armed with lethal weapons were moving around in a red Maruti Swift car. The caller also said that when the people shouted, those in the car escaped in their car towards Guruvayanakere.

In this operation three burglars were nabbed successfully while two escaped. Saddam Maripalla, Mousin Surathkal, Mohommed Irshad Bollai were arrested while Ammi and Mansoor from Ammemar escaped.

Saddam is accused is murder and attempt to murder cases while Mousin has 14 cases lodged against him.
