Bengaluru police clarifies about fake message on ‘women helpline’

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru city police (BCP) on Friday June 1 cleared up about a fake message which is being circulating on social media in regards to BCP’s ‘ladies helpline’.
On Twitter, the Bengaluru police stated, “Fake message is floating on WhatsApp regarding this number as BCP’s Women Helpline. The number does not belong to BCP. People are requested not to believe or share this fake message. Stringent action will be taken against those who create and spread fake messages on social media.”
In the fake message that has become viral, it is specified that the Bengaluru police have “started a good service with a committed helpline for women. Before boarding the taxi or auto, sms the Vehicle number to +9969777888. You will get a response by means of sms. Vehicle will be followed by means of GPRS.” The message urges individuals to impart the information to encourage ladies.
A Twitter client remarked that it was a strategy by fraudsters to kidnap women.
