Intoxicated 70-year-old man kills son-in-law

Bantwal: An intoxicated 70-year-old man murdered his son-in-law after an argument broke out between them at Maninalkur on Saturday June 2nd.
The deceased has been identified as Ramananda (52) from Banakal in Chikkamagaluru district and the accused has been identified as Ammanna Poojary (70).
Ramananda married Mohini, daughter of Ammanna Poojary and started residing in Maninalkur at Ammanna’s house. Ramananda Mohini couple has three daughters and the eldest got married recently. The other two daughters work at a garment shop in Moodbidri.
Ammanna Poojary and Ramananda had some differences since some days and in between they engaged in arguments, it is said. The murder that took place on Saturday occured when there was no one at home.
As Mohini came back from her work, she found her husband’s dead body in a ditch near the house. The accused Ammanna Poojary too has sustained some injuries and is receiving treatment at a hospital in Mangaluru.
Ammanna has married twice and Mohini’s mother died few years back. Ammanna’s second wife stays in another house in Maninalkur with her two daughters.
Though the exact motive behind the murder is unknown, the police mainitain that it was committed under the influence of alcohol. The investigation of this case has been registered at Bantwal rural police station is ongoing.
